Communication was phenomenal. The estimator, Jason McCarthy, was thorough in detailing all needed repairs and explaining the process to me. We added on additional work in a second bedroom, and he made it simple and clear. I always was made aware by the project manager, Greg Pecora, of the time line for the entire job, time of arrival each day, what sub would be there, and what would be accomplished. Greg checked in on site almost every day and was easily reached if any questions came up. I can understand why this company is on the approved contractor list for USAA. Top notch all around. I would definitely use them again for other projects at the house. This happened to be the result of water damage from a water heater's expansion tank in the attic.
If you hire them for your project make sure they have enough material to complete the job in the agreed upon time frame. The work they did for me was very good. My complaint is they didn't have enough flooring material to complete the project. They knew about it before they started. They gambled that their supplier would get it to them 2 days before the agreed upon completion date. The material didn't arrive. It took them an additional 2 weeks. In addition to this inconvenience there were items that were broken, ruined or lost. I replaced them. Also they can't figure out how to replace the floor guide to the sliding doors for a closet. It was there before they started. My garbage disposal isn't working properly. Sometimes it doesn't start or stop when I press the button the first time it sometimes takes 2 or 3 or more attempts. It started when their plumber used silicone to secure the switch to the counter. He couldn't use the nut due to the switch not long enough. They sent me a final bill. I refused to pay it until we work out my compensation for my inconvenience and replacement cost of the items I had to buy. Apparently they are in no hurry. They seem to be ignoring me.
Cannot say enough good things about Justin Ryan and the team at Paul Davis Restoration. After a waste line backup caused damage to our mother-in-law suite addition, Justin took the reins on our rebuild project and absolutely delivered. We were in a tight spot — we had another major home renovation scheduled to begin on May 4th, which meant Justin had a hard deadline of May 1st to get the rebuild completed. From the moment the project landed in his hands, he was on it. He coordinated seamlessly with our homeowner’s insurance, kept his crews moving efficiently, and made sure every team got in and out without missing a beat. Pulling off a full rebuild in two weeks was a truly amazing accomplishment, and the quality of the work matched the hustle — the space looks good as new. What really stood out was Justin’s demeanor throughout the entire process. Across the whole project, he never once seemed stressed — he was sweet, kind, and reassuring every step of the way. His communication was top-notch: he always responded to texts quickly and always picked up the phone when we called (a rarity these days!). He kept us in the loop and made what could have been a stressful situation feel completely manageable. Justin is a great guy with a heart of gold, and his level of customer service is genuinely exceptional. If you’re dealing with restoration work and want someone who will hustle for you, communicate clearly, and deliver hard, quality work on time, ask for Justin Ryan. Highly recommend Paul Davis Restoration!
My husband and I just moved to James Island and upon purchasing our house we discovered black mold throughout the kitchen. Paul Davis Restoration was hired by the sellers to mitigate the mold and remodel our kitchen, and they were an absolute lifesaver during this stressful time. The mold mitigation was quick and efficient and the kitchen remodeling process was much faster than we had anticipated! A special shoutout to Justin for his excellent communication throughout the process and assuring that we were taken care of until everything was to our satisfaction. We will absolutely be using their services in the future.
Alex and Tyler were every bit caring professionals in all aspects of their work in my home. They were always on time and worked around my schedule each day. Alex explained each step of the work in layman’s terms so that I understood as they went along. They were respectful of me and my dogs and took great care around my belongings. They cleaned up the work areas at the end of each day. Kudos guys!! This is an insurance claim so I couldn’t answer the last question (below).
